Symptoms of Trauma
Trauma presents itself very clearly through behaviour.
The person may or may not be aware of or remember the event that caused the trauma, yet because emotion is attached to the event, their behaviour speaks very clearly.
Please note; trauma symptoms are many and the reasons behind them extremely variable. These are simply a few common examples.
-
Bullying. This person feels inferior so behaves in an overly assertive and aggressive manner in order to build themselves up/present themselves in a a certain way/protect themselves from possible (in their own unconscious mind) attack
-
Workaholic. Feels they have to prove themselves/doesn't feel good enough/afraid to think/seeks exhaustion in order to sleep at night, behaves in a way that "presents" them as ambitious/dedicated/hard working, needs to be seen as the best
-
Promiscuity. This male or female has a strong need to be desired/admired/validated/wanted, therefore behaves in a promiscuous manner, even though each flimsy connection is empty and leaves them feeling worthless
-
Excessive alcohol consumption/drugs. Often described as the life and soul of the party, this person behaves as though they really love getting "out of it" when really they feel they need to numb/distract/escape, are not fun/confident/interesting when sober

Contradictory behaviour. Feeling one way yet behaving another - feelings contradicting behaviour. For example: Carrie's best friend has treated herself to a new hair style in a top salon. Carrie thinks her friend's hair looks incredible yet tells her that it doesn't suit her. She doesn't mean this and has no idea why she has said it. She thinks one thing; her feelings and does another; her behaviour. Her behaviour contradicts her feelings
